“Mel from Wrap a Hug is amazing. Super friendly, knowledgeable and supportive. She has helped me to hire a carrier during the first lockdown and provided me with support and help online. She went the extra mile which I as a first time mum really appreciated. Would recommended her to anyone who needs advice and help with baby wearing.”

Expert support to help you navigate the rather overwhelming world of slings

I run various events offering babywearing support:

The Bethnal Green Sling Library: Is a space where you can help with pretty much all things babywearing and feeding in slings! Parents book a 20 minute slot and can get help with their own slings, learn new skills, try on slings and hire, troubleshoot etc. The session runs every other Thursday morning at the Canvas in Bethnal Green. Booking is essential.

The Hackney Sling Clinic: Is dedicated to troubleshooting your own sling or try one sling on. The fit checks are 10 minutes and free or by donation. It runs monthly at Hackney Central library after the Hackney Real Nappies network's cloth nappy demo. Registration is recommended.

The Tower Hamlets Family Meet-Up: Is a support group for new and expectant parents where you can get perinatal support from our professionals and meet other local parents. You can get free sling support and try and hire slings. It runs monthly at Poplar Union. No need to book.

The Sling Information Session: Runs alongside the Hackney Real Nappies network cloth nappy give and take. You can come for troubleshooting, sling fit checks and try one and hire slings. It runs at the Round Chapel in Clapton every few weeks.

The Mother and Baby Sharing Circle: Is a safe space to share your feelings about motherhood and talk in a supportive environment. It's not an event to get sling support. It runs at the Canvas after the Bethnal Green sling library sessions. Booking is required.

You can also hire slings without a consultation (pick-up at my place in Bethnal Green or at my events or they can be posted too) and use my YouTube tutorials.

“Mel and the Wrap a Hug Sling Library are amazing. She made me feel so good and supported as a first time Mum figuring out slings and wishing to be close to my baby. Each time I have seen Mel she gave amazing advice, guidance and reassurance. She also provides so much free content on her Instagram and FB, I’m constantly referring back to her videos and tips on my babywearing journey. Her help has made me feel safe and confident carrying. If you are a new mum I highly recommend getting a consultation and hiring some slings from her before buying a sling. I recommend her to everyone I know in East London and will continue to do so!”
